Sipping sparkling wine is refined on Valentine’s Day, but a hot toddy is far more comforting when February winds turn bitter. Noble Oak’s Honey-Tree Toddy provides twice the satisfaction. The company has partnered with One Tree Planted to plant a tree for every bottle sold—a projected 1 million trees by December 2023.

Order the hot toddy at Ciro on the Riverfront for a comforting sip, or make one at home with Noble Oak Double Oak Bourbon or Double Oak Rye.

What’s the difference? Rye whiskey is made with at least 51% rye grain, while bourbon must be at least 51% corn. (Most bourbon is made in Kentucky.) Both rye and bourbon whiskeys are stored in barrels of charred new oak. This Double Oak Bourbon is finished with sherry oak, and the Double Oak Rye is finished with port wine oak staves.

No matter which you pick, you’re helping the environment by ensuring one more tree is planted. Cheers to that effort!

Noble Oak Honey-Tree Toddy Recipe

  • 1 ounce of honey
  • 1 cup of hot water
  • 1 1/2 ounces of Noble Oak bourbon or rye
  • 3 1/2-inch strip of lemon peel
  • 1 cinnamon stick

In a mug, stir the honey into the hot water until it dissolves. Add 1 1/2 ounces of double oak rye or bourbon whiskey. Peel a strip of lemon, approximately 3-4 inches long. Twist and drop the lemon peel into the drink. Stir with a cinnamon stick and serve warm.
