Karen Sposato doesn’t need to think twice when selecting a Thanksgiving Day libation. The Milton resident is an owner of Sposato Family Vineyards, which the family created from scratch on virgin earth in Mendoza, Argentina. Even so, the winery has distinctly Delaware roots—most Sussex County residents are familiar with Sposato Landscaping Co.

For the holidays, the pinot noir is “absolutely perfection,” maintains Sposato, the face of the brand, who travels to area tastings and wine dinners to showcase the products. The 100% pinot noir wine is ruby red with a medium intensity and an aroma of cherry and raspberry. Aged for 10 months in American and French oak, it’s a tannic wine with a fruit and balsamic finish. It can easily complement the traditional meal’s myriad flavors, including spicy sausage, herby stuffing, rich gravy and buttery mashed potatoes. You can even save a glass for your pumpkin pie.
